Updated Estimates of Earnings Benefits from Reduced Exposure of Children to Environmental Lead

Abstract:

Estimates the loss of lifetime earnings associated with the loss of one IQ point, then relates this to the loss of IQ associated with low-level exposure to toxic lead during childhood. This pioneering method has since been updated and used by other authors. It shows unmistakably that the U.S. would save a great deal of money by preventing lead exposure of children.
