Shgere argues that the uncertainties inherent in quantitative risk assessment render its conclusions meaningless and that no improves can change this basic flaw in the technique. Therefore, Shere argues, EPA should leave the protection of public health (the aim of risk assessment) to the medical community, freeing the agency to focus on true environmental threats.
