Abstract:

This study of cells showed that ultrafine particles (those with a diameter of 0.1 micrometers or less) are 10 to 50 times as potent at causing tissue damage, compared to fine particles with diameters in the range of 2.5 to 10 micrometers. Tiny particles can cause big lung damage.
